2013 Findley Family Fun
We Findleys just spent five wonderful but wet days at Lake Hope State Park. Thanks to a generous Christmas gift from Mark's sister, Mary Sue, we had two cabins instead of our usually pop-up camper, so the rain was not such a deterrent. Thursday we swam, canoed and kayaked in between rain bursts and hand fed hummingbirds, a Lake Hope favorite! My husband, Mark and daughter-in-law, Angelle get the prize for most hummingbird hits. Friday was the one day that everyone was able to be together and we spent much of it hiking in Hocking Hills (in the rain).
Friday evening we attended (in the rain) the Vinton County Independence Day Parade and it's a good thing we did too! My mom, Joan Minardi, was the founder and head "cheerer" of the Kettering Cheering Society. The sole purpose of this society (which consisted of our family and friends of our family) was to cheer for every person and organization in the annual Kettering parade. (We even made the paper!) So carrying on this tradition (and because no one else was even clapping!) we cheered for every Coal Queen, fire truck and little league team that passed by. It was worth the effort because of the smiles, thrown candy and fist-pumps (especially from an adorable baton twirler!) that we received from the parade participants! On Saturday we took first place (you read that right baby!!) in the Lake Hope Sandcastle Competition! Then more swimming and boating between down pours. Each day was topped off with much game playing and delicious food!
Thank you Lord for all our abundant blessings!
Peace and joy,
Nancy
